How to Get a Whiter Smile with Smile Brilliant – Blogmas Day 20

Happy Blogmas Day 20! Are we already this close to Christmas?? Today I want to share with you something that has been one of my goals this year…getting a whiter smile!

I am a certified coffee addict. My Keurig machine and I are basically BFF’s, and I can never resist a trip to Starbucks for my morning brew…or afternoon…or evening brew. You get the picture. 😉 So you can imagine that all those cups of coffee have really taken a toll on my teeth and have left them less than white.

When Smile Brilliant reached out to me and asked if I wanted to try out their whitening system, I’ll admit I was a little skeptical. I’ve never had any luck whitening my teeth at home. I’ve tried teeth whitening strips, gels, etc. and none of them gave me the results I wanted. I’ve always wanted to get my teeth professionally whitened, but the dentist can be SO pricey (we’re talking $500+) and as a college student, I don’t have the funds for that.

But thank goodness, guys, because I’ve finally found a professional whitening system that works for me and I am super excited to share with you how the process works! Seriously, the results speak for themselves! I’m a little embarrassed to include the before picture of my teeth, but we have to start somewhere, right? 😉 So, without further ado, here’s the before and after.

My teeth have lightened several shades…and guess what? I’m still enjoying my coffee every single day. (Seriously though, who could ever give coffee up?) If you’re curious to see more results, check out more before and afters here.

Smile Brilliant is so unique from everything I’ve ever tried because you literally create a mold specifically molded to your exact teeth shape; which makes all the difference, believe me!

Here’s what you’ll receive in your order:

You receive step-by-step instructions on how to create your teeth mold, teeth whitening gels, and desensitizing gels. (But we’ll get to those later.)

To start, let’s begin the molding process. (Trust me, it’s easier than it sounds!) I was really scared that I was going to mess it up, but as long as you read the directions beforehand, you’re set. Lay out your impression trays, one catalyst paste, and one base paste. Now that you have everything laid out and ready, it’s time to start making your custom trays!

Take each paste out of the container and mix together thoroughly until you get a consistent blue color. I would recommend using a timer on your phone to ensure that you’re not working with the paste longer than necessary, because it sets quickly.

Once mixed, arrange it in your tray like this, and you’re ready to take your teeth impressions!

Now carefully bite down slowly, making sure that you’re not moving the mold around. This is what it should look like once you’ve taken your impression. Now that you’ve got one down, repeat on the other side!

Smile Brilliant includes a pre-paid envelope in your package. Once you’ve taken the molds and run them under some cool water to set them, you’re ready to send them back to the Smile Brilliant labs!

I was really impressed at how quickly my custom-made teeth whitening trays were sent back to me! They’ll arrive 2-3 business days after your custom trays are created. Your impressions are received in a Smile Brilliant case. Here’s what my custom trays looked like:

As you can see, they’re perfectly molded to your exact teeth and gums, and they are very flexible and not hard at all.

And now, it’s time for the part we’ve all been waiting for! Whitening your teeth! Apply a thin string of the whitening gel along the front inner surface of the trays. (This is the part that is going to come into contact with the front of your teeth.)

Insert your trays in a forward pressing motion so that you’re pressing the gel directly into your teeth verses a downward dragging motion.

Now let the gel do its work! I like to whiten my teeth just before bed so that I know I won’t be eating or drinking for a while after the whitening is done. You can wear the trays for 1-3 hours per session. I have sensitive teeth, so I worked my way up gradually to the full three hours to get maximum results. If you have really sensitive teeth though, feel free to use your whitening trays every other day. You’ll still get killer results.

My favorite part about this system is that Smile Brilliant includes desensitizing gel as part of the process! This is such an important step if you have sensitive teeth, and it actually helps to prevent future stains as well. Use the desensitizing gel for 15 minutes after you’ve finished whitening, and you’re good to go!

Each syringe of whitening and desensitizing gel is good for three uses, so the product goes a long way.

And guess what?? Smile Brilliant has been generous enough to give away one of their complete teeth whitening kits which includes one tray creation kit, six gel syringes of your choice (3 whitening and 3 desensitizing or 6 whitening. (A $139.95 value.)
