Sensitive Skin Care Routine

If you have sensitive skin like me, first of all, I’m sorry. I know how tough having sensitive skin is. Whether you suffer from eczema, psoriasis, or just plain sensitive skin like me, you know that finding products that don’t irritate you skin that you actually LIKE is tough.

I personally have had to give up a lot of amazing scented products because they would leave my skin itchy or irritated. I’ve finally found a great skin care routine for my entire body that leaves my skin feeling moisturized and happy.

Today I want to share with you what is currently working for me and my sensitive skin.

Equate Sensitive Cleansing Facial WipesI love using makeup remover wipes before I cleanse my skin. I’m usually not too picky with these, but they have to be fragrance free and get the job done!

I’m happy to report that these do exactly that and are also super affordable and have 40 in one pack! I like to get through the month with one package of makeup removing wipes, so the standard 25 isn’t going to cut it most of the time.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin CleanserThis is my HOLY GRAIL cleanser, guys, and I never thought I would ever say that about any face wash! Period. I was really hesitant to start using this at first because I have really oily, acne-prone skin. I thought that anything that didn’t have active acne-fighting ingredients in it would break me out worse than ever…but nope.

After using this for just a week I saw a HUGE difference in the quality of my skin. I realized that just because I suffer from acne doesn’t mean I need to restrict my skin from moisture. This has allowed me to get my skin back to a healthy place again, and surprisingly, I don’t have as many breakouts as I used to!

I cleanse my skin twice a day with this in the morning and evening. In the evening I like to go in with my Clarisonic Mia to help remove the makeup from my skin. I’ve found that my skin tolerates this routine really well, but if your skin is especially sensitive, you might want to skip using a facial cleansing brush altogether.DSC_1279

Neutrogena Oil-Free MoisturizerThis is a great daily moisturizer if you have combination/oily skin. It’s a great base for makeup and leaves skin the perfect amount of moisturized. If I use any heavier moisturizer in the morning, my makeup practically slides off my face and I end up turning into a giant grease ball…not cute.

Cetaphil Moisturizing CreamThis stuff is an amazing night-time moisturizer for when your skin feels really dry. Although I do have oily/combination skin, this extra moisturizing cream works really well for me. I like to put extra cream under my eyes before I go to sleep to help plump up the skin and leave it hydrated.

Aveeno Skin Relief Body WashI know, I know, unscented body wash is no fun! I totally agree…but when you have sensitive skin or other skin problems, you have to choose between fragrance and comfort. This body wash is super gentle to the skin. It doesn’t foam like other body washes you may have used, which takes a while to get used to, but ultimately I love this product and how moisturized it leaves my skin.

Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel I was recommended this product from my dermatologist and it is amazing. If you’ve ever suffered from itchy legs after shaving, I highly encourage you to try this shave gel! It’s fragrance free but other than that is extremely comparable to all of the other highly-fragranced shaving gels I’ve come to love in the past. If you’re looking for this product in the women’s aisle at the Target though, you’re never going to find it. It’s actually in the men’s section! No worries, it’s our secret. 😉

Sure Unscented Invisible Solid DeodorantYou’re probably thinking “Unscented deodorant?? Doesn’t that defeat the point??” Well, not really. This stuff works, ya’ll. And it’s one of the cheapest out there! I personally have no problem using scented deodorant but if you have any kind of irritation using it, give this a try and see what it does for you.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing LotionAveeno is one of my favorite brands for sensitive skin care products, and their body lotion does not disappoint. I’ve been using this lotion for years and nothing else works the same. (I’m looking at you, Bath & Body Works) I love to apply this all-over after a shower and it keeps my skin super soft and best of all, not irritated!

Do you have sensitive skin or issues and use any of these products or have any reccomendations? I’d love to hear from you!

I know exactly what you mean with that Cetaphil face wash! I always used products with harsh chemicals because of my acne, but I started using Cetaphil at night to bring in something that was more gentle on my skin and I was so surprised when it controlled my breakouts. I think I’m going to have to try that shaving cream, though. I always deal with irritated legs after shaving and didn’t know what to do since I already use an antibacterial soap. Does that deodorant have aluminum in it? I don’t mind it not having a scent, but I’ve been trying to stay away from deodorants with aluminum and can’t find one that really works! Loved your post! 🙂

    • Isn’t it crazy how that works?? So glad I discovered it. And ugh irritated legs after shaving are the WORST! This shaving cream is the only thing that doesn’t make my legs itch or sting after shaving! And I will check when I get home, but it probably does. 🙁 I’ve heard so many bad things about aluminum but its so hard to find something that works really well that doesn’t have it. If you find one that doesn’t, send it my way! 🙂 Thanks Christina!

Thank you thank you for including a deodorant in a sensitive skin round up! I’ve been on the look out, so thanks for your review:)

When I was younger and had a lot of skin issues, I swore by Cetaphil. I think the Simple line is also great for sensitive skin, that is what my roommate has been using for a couple years now, and it saved her skin. You should check out the Biore Charcoal line, it is delicate, but also amazing at cleaning out the pores, but not drying your skin out.
