Every new year brings about many of the same resolutions for me. I want to eat healthier, enjoy more time with family, take more photos, and of course, travel more.
This year I will graduate college (Yay!), and with that comes the opportunity to finally spread my wings and do exactly what I’ve been wanting to do for so long: see the world.
However, you won’t see cliché destinations like Paris or Rome on my travel bucket list. I want to take the road less traveled, and go to a place that reflects my goals for the new year in its everyday life and culture. A place that is known for its healthy and delicious cuisine, exercise, and positive outlook on life.
Just a three-hour plane trip from Tokyo, Okinawa’s people are known for their positive attitudes that they achieve through meditation and exercise. As a yoga novice myself who’s already seen the amazing benefits of meditation, how cool would it be to go to a place that reflects inner strength and happiness from within?
So, what’s life really like in Okinawa? I’ve partnered with the Okinawa Prefecture to present “Life, by Okinawa,” a collection of three videos that will show you what this beautiful place has to offer.
Who knows, maybe I’ll end up in Okinawa someday soon. Until then, I’m going to live vicariously through the travelers in these videos who were lucky enough to experience a new and exciting culture firsthand.
Is travel one of your new year’s resolutions for 2017? What’s your dream destination?
Visit the campaign official website here and don’t forget to check out the rest of the Life, by Okinawa episodes and see how the other two groups enjoyed Okinawa.
