Five years ago my fiancé Kasey and I started our first New Year’s Eve tradition. Every year, before midnight, we write a letter to each other to be read on the next New Year’s Eve. This has become one of my favorite things we’ve ever started together and it’s actually the story of how we got engaged last year! (If you want to read that story, you can check it out here.)
It started in 2013 when I had the idea to write a letter to each other to be read in 2014, and we have been writing letters to each other for the next year ever since!
We seal the letters up in an envelope and hang the letters on the wall and get to look at them throughout the year. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted to open the letters and read what was inside every once in a while. 😉
The next New Year’s Eve we get to open them and read them to each other. It is so cool to see how far we have come since the last year, what we have accomplished, and how we have grown even closer together through everything that the year has held.
I just love little traditions like this, and am looking forward to many more years of letters.
Blogmas Question of the Day: Do you have any New Year’s Eve traditions?
I would love to hear them! Can you believe there’s only two days left of Blogmas?? I’ll see you right back here for Day 24!
